Caricature made on our wedding day.Who Are We?

The Director:

How did I get into this?

I have always believed in things like Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster, the paranormal, and UFO's, even when it wasn't fashionable. It is just part of who I am. If there is a mystery out there, I want to find the answers. If someone says that it's impossible, I want to prove them wrong. To say something can't be done is to wave a red cape in front of me. I think there is a part of me that hopes that the mysteries of this world are not all solved. Life needs a bit of mystery if for no other reason than to give us a reason to get up each morning. We humans need to believe in something bigger than ourselves, (and this one is definitely bigger than us!). We humans need an opportunity to trudge into the darkness where the wild things are and face our fears.

I had gone back to school at age 44 and was part of the committee that was producing the Snake River Settler's Festival at a Park in Idaho Falls, Idaho, on behalf of the Eastern Idaho Technical College. I was a student there. One of the displays was one by an Indian woman named Emma Dan, who had set up a nomadic tent and was showing the visitors about this nomadic life style. Earlier I had run across a report about an incident at the local Shoshone-Bannock Fort Hall Reservation and was anxious to ask her if she knew about it. I chattered on until she stopped me. Evidently, I was not showing her respect by listening—a typical white man's mistake—and she shut down the conversation quickly. However, I had learned some valuable bits of information between my endless questions and her exasperation. I had confused several different incidents as well as entities. Suddenly she was talking about “little people” & "water babies", as well as Bigfoot. This only excited me more. Despite these tidbits, I failed to find anything in the newspapers about these incidents, which made me even more determined to solve the mystery. Those mysteries are on hold after moving to the Southeast.

You can read about the catalyst that drove me to search at:  "I Believe" .  It all started in Idaho on an outing with my family.  Since then, it has been an on-again/off-again love affair with Bigfoot interspersed between raising children and all the demands that home and family encompasses.  I am a published Author. I have been writing for over thirty years. I started by writing poetry. It was fast, immediate, and I didn't have to wait years, (as with novels), to see the results.  I started writing about the things that were effecting me at the moment.  It was my release valve. I was past Vice President of the Idaho Writer's League, Idaho Falls, Idaho Chapter.  I have spent most of my early adult life raising my children, ( I have 17 grandchildren).   I have held many offices as a volunteer for various non profit organizations, (mostly in the capacity of Public Relations). I am a Past President of the Women's Auxiliary of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, a Colorado Chapter. I once owned a boutique for a brief time in a small town in South Carolina and I was CEO of two family owned corporations.. That is when I discovered that I am not suited for the retail business. I have always believed that knowing what you don't want is as important as what you do want. I have been able to cross retail store owner off my list of things I want to be when I grow up.

I was born and raised in Utah. I graduated from Provo High School in Provo, Utah. After graduation my family moved to Idaho where I lived for 30 years. It wasn't until I married my present husband, who is a Software Design Engineer, that we moved all the way across the country to South Carolina on a contract job. We have lived here ever since.

I am a muralist, (a talent I discovered late in life).   I do not charge for my murals because to do so would take the fun out of it.  So, most of my murals are for non-profit organizations.

I speak occasionally for various woman's groups and organizations, am working on creating Empowerment Work Shops for women,  and I hold  a lifetime membership in the International Poetry Association.

In my early adult years I never quite fit into to the "room-mother/den-mother" roles when my children were growing up.  Even though I participated in all those things, with/and for, my children.   I always felt like a fish out of water.  I didn't seem to have much in common with the women that I met through the book drives for the local school libraries, or the PTA functions.  While the women were all huddled in one corner talking about diapers, children and the latest childhood illnesses, I was in the other corner with the men.  They always seemed to have much more interesting conversations.  I guess that was a hint at what was to come.

Jim's Favorite Past Time

Tech Specialist – If it wasn't for him I would be bald now.”--Chris

My husband, Jim, retired earlier than expected from his career as a Software Contract Engineer due to kidney disease. Because of my husband's contracting career, we have traveled extensively throughout the United States.  Before my husband's retirement, these moves were frequent.  We were able to investigate in many areas during our travels.  However, we are looking forward to a Florida retirement in Central Florida along the St. Johns River, (an area rich in reported sightings). We are looking at purchasing a boat and living on the river, a dream my husband has had since his Navy days.

Jim is a retired naval officer. He taught computer programming while in the navy as well as serving on everything from destroyers to submarines. He was an Electrical Engineer and had specialized in Nuclear Power during his stint in the navy where he was stationed in Idaho Falls, Idaho, at the nuclear training facility in the desert west of Idaho Falls.

After his military retirement in 1977 he worked at Argonne National Laboratories, West outside of Idaho Falls and then for NOAA for several years prior to his first wife's death and our marriage.  He worked as a Software Contract Engineer from 1980 until his final retirement in 2004.  He is a published writer. He won an Atari award for his "Decision Maker" program written in 1981.

About Sasquatch Watch©

Our very first significant investigation into Bigfoot was as a result of Dr. Matthew Johnson's sighting of a Bigfoot at the Oregon Caves National Monument in Southern Oregon back in 2000. I completed an interview with Dr. Matthew Johnson. This interview will be published on Sasquatch Watch© for those who want to read it.

We plan to use our journalism skills as well as our varied scientific experience to help further the goals of the Bigfoot Community.   With all the controversy raging over the credibility of witnesses, We felt that hearing about his experience in his own words would help to bring some closure to the questions surrounding Dr. Johnson's report.

I want to thank Dr. Johnson for allowing me the opportunity to interview him.  He had to make major concessions in his work schedule to do this and I want him to know how much I appreciate his sacrifice." (DR. Johnson started the Southern Oregon Bigfoot Society).

We started Sasquatch Watch© in 1998.  Prior to this it was just a hobby of mine. We have both always had a curiosity about things like Bigfoot, but it was my daughter, Brandie, who actually motivated me to get more involved.  She had a sighting when she was a child and it piqued my curiosity. (the report is published on my site under the Reports and Sightings topic).   I started investigating old newspaper accounts in the area where we lived.  I am still trying to locate important documentation of an incident that occurred near the Sho-Ban Reservation near Blackfoot, Idaho.

We decided that we could contribute by collecting information and creating a website to present this information.  At first we were just going to be an information broker of sorts, putting people together.  However, the site took on a life of its own and we found ourselves expanding the services to meet the needs of those who visit our site.

We have also created a new section we call: Roadside Research. It is a new form of research. This will be our main focus from now on as we are unable to do the physically challenging expeditions that we once enjoyed due to Jim's kidney transplant and age related limitations.  However, we are not ready for our rocking chairs and hope that you will enjoy this new feature concept and perhaps adapt it for your own use.

There just aren't enough researchers to be able to re-investigate the older sighting reports and do an in-depth report of those reports. We believe that a lot of crucial data has been left out or missed surrounding these older reports.

Even though reports have been made and documented, few researchers have actually gone to the spot and documented the area and the information surrounding the sighting. Usually a phone call is made or an e-mail is sent and then it's reported on someone's site. In only a few cases has a person actually shown up to talk to the person who reported it face to face.

As you can tell by reading the reports that have been documented on the different web sites, few seem complete. Few include photos. Few have GPS locations. For the most, they are a brief report with no particular detail. We hope to change this. When you are done reading our Roadside Research Report, we want you to feel like you have actually been there as we visited the spot. We want you to see and hear and feel what we do. We want you to know exactly what we know. We want you to be able to follow our directions to that exact spot to see it for yourself. Then, and only then will you be able to have the answers you need answered. Then, and only then will you begin to understand the vastness of the areas that Bigfoot travels. Only then will you feel like you are a part of the process and perhaps, you may discover details and information that no one else has found. We urge you to do your own Roadside Research in the areas close to your home and report back exactly what you discovered along the way.

We offer a section on Bigfoot Around The World where we feature other countries and their search for their own elusive creatures.  We have the most comprehensive list of Books, Videos, Toys and Novelties, not to mention hard to find, rare, collector's items and out of print videos and books.

We just recently created a feature known as Sasquatch Funnies©   This feature is a weekly cartoon series which is unique and original. We will be adding a bi-weekly feature cartoon strip as well as publishing cartoons you send in to us. Of course it has to be family readable, so keep it clean.

We will be including a list of Bigfoot Groups and Organizations.  We offer a CrossWord Puzzle section.

Where will it go from here?  Who knows.  We will just keep creating a better site a little bit at a time until we either prove Bigfoot exists or there is no longer a need for our work.
